Baptism photography at St James’s Church, Marylebone
It was a real honour to photograph this Baptism. It was so lovely to see different generations from the family come together to celebrate this special day – including some relatives who’d flown in from overseas.
The service was held at St James’s Roman Catholic Church – a very beautiful building, with lots of ornate features and a stunning ceiling.
This church is so picturesque – I love the golden arches at the front of the church, and the beautiful reflections on the dark wood. It’s a striking stone building from the outside, a classic fairytale church with turrets and arches galore.
I photographed the family and guests arriving and greeting each other, and then settled in to photograph the service itself. The light was beautiful – trickling in through stained glass windows. I was glad to have my trusty 5d mkiv as any other camera in the Canon range would have struggled with the low light conditions. It’s no problem with the mkiv though!
There was so much laughter, it was a real delight to capture these moments for the family. Their baby was incredibly calm and relaxed, and barely blinked as he was Baptised.
We then went on to the reception at The Churchill Hotel, which really added to the sense of occasion. I photographed the food and drink, and the live music being played, as well as capturing the mood and atmosphere as the guests mingled and enjoyed themselves
I’m so happy to have been asked to photograph this very special event in their lives.
“We chose Louise to photograph our son’s baptism because of her sympathetic approach to religious services. She proved to be a great choice and was very discreet in the church and I would not hesitate in using her again or recommending her to my friends. Thank you!” Adriana C.
