Christening photographer London: Richmond – St Peter’s Church, SW18
“Louise was lovely to work with, and was discreet during the service whilst managing to capture all the important moments. Louise took a good range of photos which captured our occasion perfectly, and brought out the children’s individual characters.” Claire
“I saw the photos of the Baptism Service and I was so impressed that I immediately recommended you to another family.” The Revd Canon Tim Marwood, Parish Priest, St. Peter’s, Petersham
Photographing this christening in Richmond, south London:
This Christening ceremony was held at St Peter’s Church in Richmond, SW18. It’s a traditional church was dark wood and warm, yellowy light. It was a beautiful service and their little boy was so calm throughout. I took photographs throughout the ceremony to capture the moment the little boy was baptised and also more candid moments of the congregation singing and watching on. It’s lovely to photograph people unaware and in the moment – especially at such special occasions.
I recognised the reverend, and after a bit of thinking we realised that he used to visit my primary school – it really is a small world!
The organist was playing beautiful music, which added to the elegant and warm atmosphere in the church. I made sure to include that in the photographs – every detail helps add up to tell the overall story.
After the service I took a few gently posed group shots in the church and then followed the family on to their informal christening reception at The Petersham Hotel. Out came the champagne and everyone toasted the happy baby boy.
We took some group family portraits on the balcony outside, overlooking the stunning Richmond park. The family brought out the family christening blanket to wrap their baby in – it’s so lovely when there are meaningful details like these.
What a lucky boy to have such a wonderfully warm and loving family – such a pleasure to photograph!
