Louise instantly put me at ease, and had great ideas for my personal branding shots. Her talent for capturing people is also complimented by her professionalism, kindness and fantastic work ethic. Louise is such a dream to work with. I love the results, and the only challenge was choosing the best shots!Kate Hughes, Hair & Makeup Artist

What happens in a typical headshot or personal branding photoshoot?

First and foremost, I promise you don’t need to worry about whether you’re photogenic. I’ll help you to feel at ease and I’ll give you some gentle pointers on how to stand and hold yourself for the most flattering photograph. I even go so far as to promise that you’ll enjoy the session.

Personal branding sessions typically include a wide range of headshots and portraits, in locations that reflect your personality and style. Anything that will help you tell your story in photos!

We’ll create a comprehensive set of business photos to use across your website (eg for your contact page, about page and to illustrate the services offered) as well as for social media profiles and posts, a personal branding session is for you.

We can include a variety of locations – we can wander around a bit, choosing some locations that reflect your personality and your business. This gives you plenty of choice for your profile photos, and also means you can have a different look and feel for use across your website and socials – so the photo on your about page can have a different location and outfit to your contact page, for example.

Each session will be tailored to you and your business, but a typical branding session includes a selection of headshots & portraits that give a sense of the person behind the business. If they’d be useful for your website, social media or marketing materials, we can also take some photos of you working with clients, relaxing off-duty and glimpses into your personal life (pets, partners, friends).

Best of both worlds, if you’d like a traditional studio-style portrait as well, we can incorporate that into your session too.

For team shots, we will typically take these in your office. I’ll identify interesting locations that will work well, and I can bring lighting equipment with me to make any environment viable.

I’ll take some video footage as we go, so you can also have some fresh video content for your Instagram stories or for YouTube.

What’s B-roll? These are short clips, for you to add text to as you like. It’s supplemental footage – not a main headshot, say, but mood setting footage that could be used as a background in an Instagram reel to support some text. Like in a news report – the actual report is the A roll, and the clips of people’s feet walking along the pavement etc is the B roll. On social media, it can be used for mood clips, transition clips for reels, scene setting:

B-roll for an intro post – saying hello to new followers, introducing yourself as a person as well as a business owner

B-roll to set a mood,
and to accompany a motivational quote

B-roll to introduce a new service – the caption would explain that it was time to announce something new

Preparing for your headshot or personal branding shoot

To see if I might be the right photographer for you, I firstly suggest a free 15-minute consultation. We can discuss what you need from your headshot or commerical photos, and see if I’ll be a good fit for you.

After you’ve booked your shoot, I’ll send you a questionnaire so you can tell me more about you (and your brand, if these are for work). Then, we’ll have a pre-session phone consultation in which we’ll discuss your shoot in more detail, and make a plan for what I’ll photograph in your shoot.

I’ll also send you a prep guide, which includes recommendations on clothing and makeup, and will leave you feeling fully prepared for your shoot.

“I required corporate headshots for both online profiles and for editorial content, the requirement being that I have some formal and some more relaxed looking shots. Louise took all of this into consideration, keeping it in mind throughout. I’m a little camera shy and needed some encouragement, but Louise made the whole process fun and relaxed. I’d absolutely recommend her to others.” Gerardo
