Anthony Gladman is a writer, specialised in drinks.

When we were planning his session, he told me: “I love flavour above all. I want to get people confident tasting and talking about the flavours in their drinks. I want people to enjoy drinking better, not more. I love opening the world of drinks up to people because a drink always tastes a bit better if you know a little bit more about it.” His passion and knowledge about drinks really comes through, and I wanted to bring that into his headshots.

He’s creative and fun, so we decided to look out for some quirky backdrops that would reflect these sides of his personality.

My goal was for the photos to give the impression that Anthony is highly skilled and dependable, and that his writing is engaging and fun.

I really enjoyed our session earlier today (cold wind aside). These photos are great, you’ve really managed to get a nice sense of warmth and connection – plus a dash of kapow.”

2. Headshots For An Urban Wildlife Writer

Amanda Tuke is a freelance feature writer and author, and she teaches botany and bird identification.

The goal was for headshots that showed Amanda as friendly, fun, knowledgeable and professional.

I took these photographs in Forest Hill, a perfect fit for the requirements of being clearly in a city, suggestive of London, with some greenery – and with some pavement plants. 

3. Headshots For An Arts Writer

Beverley is an art writer and curator, and often writes art reviews about exhibitions, symposia or events.

This headshot was taken in front of a colourful background to give a sense of creativity and dynamism, whilst keeping a professional tone.
