What To Expect:
Newborn Photography In London

I offer natural, baby-led newborn photography in London, in the comfort of your own home. The ideal windows for newborn photography are 7-10 days after the due date (EDD) or waiting for the six week milestone.

Rest assured I won’t style you like a magazine shoot! I’m all about capturing you as your are, in that magic newborn bubble.

The photographs were great, even better than we expected. We like that Louise captures natural moments with genuine smiles and laughter, and some action shots as well as portraits. She was forthcoming with tips for the session, and accommodating of our requests.

We were initially unsure about what to wear, but found speaking to Louise about this and her info sheet very helpful.

Being a mum herself, Louise is able to assist in creating the right atmosphere – our newborn shoot was a lovely experience.

In a nutshell

I make sure your newborn session is easy and relaxed for both you and your baby, and an enjoyable, memorable event for the family.

It’s so easy to forget the whirlwind of these early weeks, and I love capturing the special moments for new parents.

I’m known for keeping newborn sessions calm – a nice moment to step back and soak up how incredible it is that you’ve just created a human! You don’t need to worry about whether your baby will co-operate on the day – my sessions are baby led and I’m very patient, there’s no rush.

I’m sensitive to parents wanting a balance between capturing real emotions but not looking sleep deprived or showing a messy home – I take sentimental but elegant photos. I totally get that new mums don’t always feel their best, and will always look for flattering angles and soft light.

Please know that all families are 100% welcome – single parent families (like me), same sex parents, ND or neurotypical, all religions and backgrounds. Families come in all shapes and sizes, and I’m honoured to photograph each and every one.

Planning your session

The newborn phase can be full-on, and you need this to be easy! I’ll guide you through each step of the process, so you’ll always know what’s happening next.

You’ll receive a prep guide, filled with tips and pointers that will help your session run smoothly – including clothing tips for new mums, and how to prep your home.

You’ll also receive an information gathering form to collate what you’d like from your photographs. This gives us a great starting point for discussing your session, and how to make the most of it.

We’ll schedule a quick call to run through the practicalities of your session. Of course, you can also ask me any questions you might have.

It’s really helpful for me to get a sense of what you’re looking for from your photographs, so I can create images for you that you really love.

What to expect on the day

As newborns are adorable as they are, I take natural photographs in your everyday surroundings, rather than tucking your baby into buckets! My goal is to capture the moments that matter.

As well as gorgeous portraits of your baby, I’ll photograph the love between you and your baby, so you can remember what life was like in these special first few weeks. While you go about your morning, I’ll capture genuine smiles and laughter between you all, and a mix of documentary / actions shots as well as portraits.

I’ll photograph your newborn baby as he or she sleeps, gazes up at you or snuggles up in your arms, and photograph you all as a family as you find your feet with a new human in tow. Parents often find they don’t have many photos where they’ll all in the shot, so I make sure to include plenty of family photos in my sessions.

Of course, if you have older children or pets, they’re absolutely part of the session too.

Design support with your photos

If you’d like to order frames or an album but are unsure of which size or format to choose, I can help. My design degree and previous role managing a photography gallery means I can give you expert support in presenting your photographs beautifully.

During your optional and no-obligation design call, we can look through print, frame and album samples together, and we can discuss what will suit your family and your home best.

Albums are designed in-house by specialist graphic designers. I’ll send them your favourite photographs, and they’ll send back a draft layout for your approval.

If you’d like to frame some prints, we can look for the best spaces in your home and I can advise on which sizes will be best for those spaces.

Holding samples up against your walls is the ideal way of seeing which print sizes will be best, and I can also create a scale mockup so you can compare print and frame options.

I’m so pleased we chose Louise as our newborn photographer. The photo sessions were fun: Louise was calm and reassuring. The photographs were beautiful – Louise has a great eye for capturing stylish but genuine- feeling moments, with a little bit of humour too. She also knows how to get the best out of your home. We purchased Queensberry albums and were so impressed by the final product.”

We booked a newborn session primarily to get some photos of the three of us, reflecting how we’ve spent our time in the first few weeks – most of the photos we had were of just our baby, or of only one of us with him. So much gets forgotten about the newborn bubble so we wanted to make sure to capture some memories.

Being post partum I’m not at my best, so I was worried I wouldn’t like any of the photos of me – or that they would be very staged and not reflect us as a family. Louise did such an amazing job however getting us into a relaxed mood and capturing really precious moments. I love looking back over the photos, especially now Rowan is already so much bigger. I think we will be looking back over the photos a lot as he grows up.

It felt really calm having newborn photos taken at home, and getting some photos outside was also really important to me. Louise made us feel really relaxed, and encouraged us to go about our morning as normal. Time went so much faster than I thought it would!”
